{"id":857,"date":"2011-11-21T05:20:58","date_gmt":"2011-11-21T05:20:58","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/egad.engineering.queensu.ca\/?page_id=857"},"modified":"2012-05-01T13:46:49","modified_gmt":"2012-05-01T18:46:49","slug":"a-5-step-guide-to-curriculum-development","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/egad.engineering.queensu.ca\/?page_id=857","title":{"rendered":"A 5 Step Guide To Curriculum Development"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3>A 5 Step Guide To Curriculum Development<\/h3>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\".\/wp-content\/themes\/platformpro\/images\/line_separator.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"605\" height=\"2\" \/><\/p>\n<h4><em>Welcome<\/em><\/h4>\n<p><span style=\"color: #333333;\">The EGAD Project group has designed a 5 step guide which parallels the stages and steps involved when undertaking a systematic program review \u00e2\u20ac\u201c particularly useful, we think, for faculty members, curriculum teams and others preparing for accreditation visits from the CEAB.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Each step consists of a learning module containing information relevant to some aspect of outcomes-based program review. The intention isn\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t to influence your institution\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s approach to program review but rather to highlight some of the key elements of a comprehensive review, highlighting the approaches and tools being used successfully by some of the schools across the country. And, using the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.engineerscanada.ca\/e\/files\/Accreditation_Criteria_Procedures_2010.pdf\">CEAB accreditation questionnaire<\/a> as a guide, we\u00e2\u20ac\u2122ve also been very careful to use CEAB-compatible language and share processes that align well with what CEAB site teams are likely to be looking for.<\/p>\n<p>Each learning module represents one phase of a 5-step data-informed approach to curriculum or program evaluation:<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 75px;\"><a href=\"?page_id=26#maincontent\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\".\/wp-content\/themes\/platformpro\/images\/m1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"412\" height=\"64\" \/><\/a><a href=\"?page_id=28#maincontent\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\".\/wp-content\/themes\/platformpro\/images\/m2.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"412\" height=\"64\" \/><\/a><a href=\"?page_id=31#maincontent\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\".\/wp-content\/themes\/platformpro\/images\/m3.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"412\" height=\"64\" \/><\/a><a href=\"?page_id=33#maincontent\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\".\/wp-content\/themes\/platformpro\/images\/m4.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"412\" height=\"64\" \/><\/a><a href=\"?page_id=35#maincontent\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\".\/wp-content\/themes\/platformpro\/images\/m5.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"412\" height=\"64\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #333333;\">Each module can be done individually, in teams as part of a retreat, or independently in preparation for curriculum committee meetings. <\/span><\/p>\n<h4>User Specific Recommendations<\/h4>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\".\/wp-content\/themes\/platformpro\/images\/line_separator.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"405\" height=\"2\" \/><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #333333;\">We\u00e2\u20ac\u2122ve taken the liberty of identifying content areas that we anticipate will be of particular interest to\u00c2\u00a0some user groups but you are free to access any of the material from any module, in any order you choose:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Curriculum committees are involved in every aspect of the program evaluation process, and so are encouraged to review all of the Modules, beginning with <a href=\"?page_id=26#maincontent\">Module 1<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>Faculty members have a vested interest in, and primary responsibility for,  generating evidence on students\u00e2\u20ac\u2122 learning, and thus are encouraged to at least review <a href=\"?page_id=31#maincontent\">Module 3<br \/>\n<\/a><\/li>\n<li>CEAB visitors are encouraged to be sure that they review <a href=\"?page_id=28#maincontent\">Module 2<\/a> and <a href=\"?page_id=35#maincontent\">Module 5<\/a> , as they provide a comprehensive picture of the approaches and processes being undertaken by schools of engineering across the country.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A 5 Step Guide To Curriculum Development Welcome The EGAD Project group has designed a 5 step guide which parallels the stages and steps involved when undertaking a systematic program review \u00e2\u20ac\u201c particularly useful, we think, for faculty members, curriculum teams and others preparing for accreditation visits from the CEAB.
